The easiest way to get to Princeton area - travel Route 1 south and make a right at Washington Street.
When you think of New Jersey, you certainly don't think of scenic landscapes like this. What is also strange is this beautiful waterfall is located in a very industrial area of the state. I am told these are the largest falls east of Niagra. I was able to get here a couple of weeks ago and this is one of my better shots from the day.
These Falls are a National Historic Landmark and the it recently came under the protection of the National Parks System.
It is relatively easy to get to the falls:
GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTH:
Exit 155P, continue straight ahead onto Route 19 North following signs for "Downtown Paterson."
Make the 1st left onto Cianci Street. Go one light to Market Street and turn left.
Market Street ends at Spruce Street (Paterson Museum is on your left.)
Turn right onto Spruce Street. Go one block to McBride Avenue Extension and turn right.
Visitor center is on the corner, directly across from the Great Falls parking area.
The Falls are lit at night and are supposed to provide spectacular views, however this neighborhood is not the best and I would not recommend being here alone at night with expensive camera equipment.
If you enjoy rustic and rural photographer this place is a dream come true. Heralded as New Jersey's most isolated Community this lovely little seaside town of Grassy Sound is far away from the tourist crowds plaguing the rest of New Jersey's vacation spots.
It only has a population of about 50 people and is technically part of Middle Township.
There are about 30 homes left here, some no more than fishing shacks. A narrow boardwalk leads from home to home over the marsh. If you live here you must park your car hundreds of yards from your home at the road, and walk the boardwalk to your home. Most homes have wagons to transport their groceries and supplies from car back to home.
Local wet land laws prevent any further construction at Grassy Sound; the newest home here dates back to 1964. Visiting here you get the feeling that it appeared the same 50 or even 100 years ago.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum features two historic American naval vessels for visitors to explore. The Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Intrepid was commissioned in 1943 and participated in World War II, the space race, the Cold War and the Vietnam War. The submarine USS Growler is the only intact strategic diesel-powered submarine that fired nuclear missiles open to the public anywhere in the world.
Address: The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is located on the West side of Manhattan on Pier 86, 12th Ave. & 46th Street. It is easily accessible from all points in the New York City Metro area.
